Nicole Bates-Eamer
SDG Stewards: Local Action, Global Impact
Dr. Nicole Bates-Eamer is the Associate Director of CIFAL Victoria, a joint initiative between the UN Institute for Training and Research and the University of Victoria. She works with partners at UVic and beyond to develop, design and deliver transformative learning experiences that advance the Sustainable Development Goals. Nicole has worked at UVic for almost 20 years on research projects related to climate change, international development, migration, public policy and institutional change; her PhD examined the intersections of climate change and human mobilities. Prior to UVic, she worked in UN refugee camps in western Tanzania with the NGO Right to Play, taught English in South Korea, and played soccer on scholarship at the University of Memphis. Nicole grew up on Vancouver Island and prefers to spend her time trail running or on the ocean.
